JQ Engineering: Zachry Engineering Education Complex Renovation & Expansion for the Texas A&M University System

In 2013, the Texas A&M University College of Engineering launched the 25 By 25 initiative to increase enrollment from 14,000 to 25,000 students by 2025. To realize this goal, the engineering education experience had to be transformed into a 21st century model focused on technology-enabled learning, hands-on training, and collaborative, multidisciplinary spaces. The new, 525,000 SF Zachry Engineering Education Complex (ZACH) was a significant first step achieved by deconstructing, reconstructing and vertically expanding the original 300,000 SF building and constructing two five-story building additions. JQ’s innovative solutions paved the way for the reimagining of this iconic structure.
