Jones I Carter: Corrosion Study of Alternative Water Source for the City of Rosenberg

In 2017, the City of Rosenberg commissioned a study to assess the potential for corrosion of its pipe network before introducing treated surface water from an alternate source. The City was concerned that the pipe network, which includes iron, galvanized steel, and copper pipes, would be susceptible to corrosion due to differences in water quality. Jones|Carter performed pipe loop tests, consumer taste tests, a flushing plan, and a nitrification action plan. The City implemented a conversion of its disinfectant and a polyphosphate treatment plan, which will extend the system’s useful life and protect against harmful corrosion.
